“Big Canadian Reggae Lion” Jo Jo Bennett Dies at 81

Jo Jo Bennett, the two-time Juno Award winner and Sattalites co-founder, who played the fluegelhorn and trumpet with the band, died on August 3. A reggae influencer who also played jazz and rock ‘n roll, Bennett was known as “a great teacher and a great player.” In the 1980s, he formed the teaching group Sattalites Music School with a bandmate and taught on a pay-what-you-can basis.
