Statement from S.A.C. on the Recent German Court Decision Finding that SUNO Infringed Copyright by Scraping Musical Works

“Music creators are not anti-technology. On the contrary, they operate on the leading edge of technological change, embracing new tools to enhance human creativity and workflow. However these technological changes cannot come at the expense of, or be developed on the backs of human creators, without authorization, remuneration or transparency. We applaud Gema and the recent German court decision which reinforces and upholds the basic principle that human creativity and copyright must be respected.”

Arun Chaturvedi, President of The Songwriters Association of Canada
