The Songwriters Association of Canada (S.A.C.) recently joined the Canadian Private Copying Collective (CPCC) and a delegation of over 20 music industry associations in Ottawa. The group participated in roundtable discussions, urging the federal government to make private copying laws technologically neutral.

This change would enable music creators to access over $40 million a year in private copying royalties that they are currently unable to collect due to a minor technical fault in the Copyright Act.
