Advocacy, GenAI

S.A.C. President Arun Chaturvedi met today with the Canadian Government’s Department of Innovation, Science, and Economic Development (ISED), encouraging them to strongly consider the rights of music creators when developing policies and legislation regarding generative AI. He emphasized the importance of transparency and adherence to the “Three C’s”:

  • Consent: Obtaining consent for the use of their works.
  • Credit: Giving proper credit for the use of their works and any derivative output.
  • Compensation: Ensuring fair compensation for the use of their works.

The Songwriters Association of Canada thanks the Government of Canada for their ongoing consultations.
