Troy Kokol

Director

Calgary, AB / Toronto, ON

Troy Kokol is an award-winning Canadian singer, producer, animator, and songwriter whose career is defined by a rare versatility across genres and mediums. With over 250 professional cuts to his name in music, film, and television, Kokol is a recipient of the SOCAN Award for Country Music and a two-time CCMA Songwriter of the Year nominee. Whether behind the console at his Calgary studio or centre stage as a solo artist, his work consistently lands at the top of the charts and the forefront of the industry.

As a songwriter, Kokol’s knack for storytelling has led to collaborations with a diverse array of artists, including Brett Kissel, Leaving Thomas, Jerry Sereda, and Jake Mathews. Notably, he co-wrote the Shane Yellowbird hit “Pick Up Truck,” which Billboard ranked as the #6 all-time song on Canadian country radio. His international reach is equally impressive; he produced and co-wrote Australian star Hayley Jensen’s #1 ARIA album Breakin’ Hearts and her 2025 follow-up Country Soul, which earned a CMA Australia nomination and established her as Australia’s #1-selling female country artist.

In addition to his work for others, Kokol is a celebrated solo artist and multi-disciplinary creator. He was honoured as the Indigenous Artist of the Year at the 2024 YYC Music Awards, a testament to his craftsmanship as a performer and self-produced engineer. A true “DIY” visionary, Kokol often animates his own music videos, including the award-winning “Lightbulb.” His collaborative spirit also shines in the duo Scarlett Butler, who took home Songwriter of the Year at the 2022 CMAB Awards for their Top 50 Billboard single, “Looking For a Lockdown with You.”

From his Calgary studio, Kokol has collaborated with icons like Michelle Wright, Aaron Goodvin, and CBC Heartland’s Amber Marshall. As a premier producer and engineer, he excels at bridging the gap between world-class technical precision and the raw heart of a songwriter.
