Join us at 80a Studios Universal Music Canada in Toronto on June 9th for a workshop on how to communicate effectively with sound professionals.

Dr. Amandine Pras is coming back for an in-person 3-hour session – whether you are a songwriter, composer, performer, filmscorer, arranger, or beatmaker, you have probably experienced challenges when engaging with sound professionals on stage and/or in the recording studio.

Dr. Pras will introduce the workshop by deconstructing the power dynamics and meritocracy systems that rule knowledge acquisition processes and career paths in a field that is extremely male-dominated.
She will then highlight study outcomes that can easily be applied in situations to facilitate your interactions with sound professionals from the preparation stage of a project.

Finally, she will share ideas about ways to develop a vocabulary to best describe your needs and to efficiently collaborate with sound technicians, engineers, and producers. The presentation will be followed by a Q&A and is free to register for SAC members, SCGC members, MPC members and Women in the Studio alum.

This workshop is presented by the Songwriters Association of Canada (S.A.C.), the Screen Composers Guild of Canada (SCGC), and sponsored by Music Publishers Canada (MPC) and SOCAN Foundation.
