By day, Patrick Ballantyne is the CEO of the Registered Insurance Brokers of Ontario (RIBO), the organization that regulates Ontario’s 18,000 personal and casualty insurance brokers. Patrick had been RIBO General Counsel since 2005. Prior to RIBO, Patrick was a regulatory compliance professional with both KPMG and PWC. He served in senior policy positions with The Toronto Stock Exchange and the Investment Funds Institute of Canada. He began his career as a prosecutor with the Law Society of Upper Canada.
By night, Patrick is a Toronto-based songwriter. He has been writing since he first picked up a guitar at the age of 14. Heavily influenced by the sounds of his hometown Windsor station CKLW, you can hear echoes of the motor cities in his music. His broad stylistic range is reflected in the numerous tracks he has co-written with artists as diverse as Big Sugar, Tim Chaisson, The Trews, Wide Mouth Mason, Shane Chisholm and Meredith Shaw.
When not lawyering or songwriting, Patrick enjoys performing, mentoring, running, and spending precious time with his wife and daughter.
