On August 4 the United States Department of Justice (“DOJ”) announced their decision not to modify the ASCAP and BMI consent decrees at this time, and instead have issued an interpretation of the decrees to require 100% or "full-work" licensing, upending decades of industry practice. In response, ASCAP and BMI have joined forces to fight the DOJs interpretation of the decrees. Click here
