Last Love Song

Can you tell a star from billions other stars
A little flower, in a cherry tree in blossom
A single drop of rain in the Pacific ocean
A tiny speck of time in the eternal sands

A stifled smile, when you see those crazy eyes
Noone should know, noone should ever care
If it’s a miracle the way two worlds collide
And leave behind nothing but rubble of despair

This will be the last love song you hear
Promise just one last time, be sincere
You will try and hide your dreams inside
But this will be the last love song you hear

If there are miracles, they aren’t beyond the laws of nature
They are not stories that you know from tales of lore
They are not in those sweet sweet shows on TV
Or in the grey shady books that you have read before

So Get over like so many times before
You heart is just one big red scar this way
You may be many things but you will never be with her
A faded photograph is all that keeps her from fading away

This will be the last love song you hear
Promise just one last time, be sincere
You will try and hide your dreams inside
But this will be the last love song you hear
This will be the last love song you hear
This will be the last love song you hear

Outlandish Graces

We forgot who we are
Left the journals of our life out in the wind
And the pages turned

We keep staring at the stars
Trying to figure out the way to fly as high
And we get burned

And we should never stop the dance
Never leave it all to chance
We will fight against all odds
Like we’re demigods, we’re demigods

And we all sail to the far away places
Only hope and a smile on our faces
And we seek to find outlandish graces
Only hope and a smile on our faces

We have learnt to trust the lies
To survive, to survive
Out in the blistering cold

We keep running through the night
We just want to feel alive
Seems like it never gets old

And we should never cease to fight
Our own vice and our own blight
There is too much put on red
It’s too late to change the bets, change the bets

Take it slow, please take it slow
’cause we have miles to go
Take the leap, please take the leap
’cause we have promises to keep

All those rights, all the wrongs
They are now in our songs
We have lost we have won
We live under the same sun

And we all sail to the far away places
Only hope and a smile on our faces
And we seek to find outlandish graces
Only hope and a smile on our faces

Single Flower in Her Hair

The other night I had the strangest dream
A lovely girl with the bluest eyes I’ve seen
With tender skin, and sunshine on her lips
Bright ashen hair and little dimples on her cheeks

There was a faint and faded shadow on her face
I looked at her and somehow knew she couldn’t stay
I felt her sorrow, melancholy, and her pain
All the heartache that one heart cannot contain

She wore a single yellow flower in her hair
I’m pretty certain I’d seen it at the Scarborough fair
I tried to ask her about the sadness in her eyes
But she just smiled and disappeared into the night

And if you see her please tell her how I need her
And if she listens, please tell her what I could not say
And when she hears it, I hope she sends her smile to me
And until then, I’ll see her smiling in my dreams

She wore a single yellow flower in her hair
I’m pretty certain i’d seen it at the Scarborough fair
I tried to ask her about the sadness in her eyes
But she just smiled at me and disappeared in the night

And if you see her please tell her how I need her
And if she listens, please tell her what I could not say
And when she hears it, I hope she sends her smile to me
And until then, I’ll see her smiling
Until then, I’ll see her smiling
Until then, I’ll see her smiling in my dreams

Sophisticated

She looks so complicated
So sophisticated
Highly educated
With vigor and pizzaz

Elegant and pretty
Humorous and witty
Livin’ in the city
Tango, swing and jazz

And when the evening comes
She’s dressed up to the nines
Like roses and like guns
Her deadly passion shines

Seeking new sensation,
A total exaltation,
Thrill and excitation
Rushing through her veins

Quivering and shivering
Welcoming deliverance
Can she tell the difference
Between the pleasure and the pain

And then the morning comes
Steeped tea and toasted buns
The roses and the guns
Her beauty’s overrun

And it’s bound to keep repeating like the groundhog day
There is just one way to stay, you must quit this game you play

She’s so complicated
So sophisticated
Can she tell the difference
Between the pleasure and the pain

Wonderful Day

Can’t stand the silence
Or the look in your eyes
Shadows and diamonds
A perfect disguise
Though it’s too late now
The damage is done
Some things were coming
And some were long gone

If you could listen
And if I could stay
It’d be a wonderful day

Are rivers still flowing?
Are the colours still nice?
And if I rewind it,
Will I find a compromise?

If I was mended
If you knew a way
It’d be a wonderful day

I don’t think it’s fair what is asked of me
I only wanted to stay for the day
Tears are falling down from the willow tree
I could not see the cliche
I could not see the cliche
I could not see the cliche

Are rivers still flowing?
Are the colours still nice?
And if I rewind it,
Will I find a compromise?

If you could listen
And if I could stay
We’d probably witness a wonderful day
We’d probably witness a wonderful day
We’d probably witness a wonderful day

Biography:

Paul’s musical journey began at the age of 6 when his parents enrolled him into music school for Accordion. Attending classes 4 days a week, the future songwriter was taught music theory, harmony, solfeggio, rhythm and music literature, with regular instrumental classes in accordion, piano, and even vocals. At 15 he began focusing on guitar more than he had before. Quickly making it his instrument of choice, Cafcae went on to write original material, and ended up performing in several bands in Eastern Europe and Canada.

Performing live consistently since 2009, the artist has written a number of songs that would later be re-worked and recorded for the Sophisticated release. The album serves as a memoir of sorts, diversely going through different chapters in his life

With the release of the Sophisticated album, Paul Cafcae seamlessly crosses genres to breed a sound familiar, yet all his own. Laced with addicting progressions, a songwriting style that brings old and new together, and a melodically satisfying vocal approach, the record boasts the aesthetic of indie pop rock anthems.
