Biography:
Life’s a story for Berklee-accredited, GMA, and WCMA nominated pop rock singer songwriter Jonathan Li. Whether it’s his life, your life, or the lives of those you come into contact with, everyone’s got stories worth sharing.
In writing his sophomore effort, “Our Stories Matter”, Jonathan tapped into the talents of producers Jeff Dawson (Daniel Powter, Kelly Rowland, State of Shock) and Russell Broom (Jann Arden), to craft a soulful, groove-inspired pop rock album that explores the idea of life as a series of unfolding stories. Rich in composition and raw in emotion, the album is equal parts sensitive and complex, an authentic and refreshing reflection of the life experiences he’s worked to capture in every melody. This writing has been acknowledged by multiple songwriting contests including the Calgary Folk Festival, the North American NewSong contest and Unsigned Only.
A RAWLCO 10K20 grant recipient, Jonathan recently embarked on his first press tour across Western Canada, receiving media coverage from CityTV, CBC, CTV, and Global TV. Thanks to an overwhelmingly positive response, subsequent tours are shortly on the horizon with serious potential for national coverage.
Community is certainly important to Jonathan. Having previously partnered with Ronald McDonald House and War Child Canada and currently flexing his creative muscles for International Justice Mission, he uses his skills to help others and change the world around him for the better.
Two albums in, Jonathan continues to share his music online, locally and on the road while continuing his passion for writing songs in multiple musical genres (R&B, Pop, Rock, Country & EDM) for both himself and other artists across North America (both independent and major label). Constantly working on new material, Jonathan knows that the best is yet to come.
