Not Lookin'

Even if you don't want money
There still isn’t a lot that isn’t enough
Drinking water, staying humble
another time, I’m looking for trouble

And it comes when I’m not looking
And it comes
It comes when I’m not looking
It comes

Nobody will mind if you sing a bad note
Nobody who matters in the pursuit of your goals

You fumble you feel it for those who move you
You rule with smooth moves for those who you see through
Stay true to those who you see through

And it comes when I’m not looking
it comes
It comes when I’m not looking
It comes

Yes it comes when I’m not looking
it comes
It comes when I’m not looking
It comes

Zoubi (they/them) grew up in the wild woods of Hornby Island, BC. Years later, in Victoria, they gained traction with their band, Zoubi and The Sea. The quartet opened for local big names, Jon and Roy, Fortune Killers, and Carmanah as well as widely known artists, Tara Lightfoot and Rising Appalachia. After performing in several West Coast music festivals with Zoubi and The Sea, Zoubi's ambition led them to Toronto to study Independent Songwriting and Performance. Zoubi joyfully plays finger-style guitar blending deep lyrics with simple, catchy melodies. They enchant their audience with authentic personal anecdotes and when performing as a band, Zoubi and The Sea meld folk-pop tones with a gritty, jazzy swing.

In Toronto, Zoubi and The Sea opened for Jesse Roper at the Dakota Tavern, performed at Poetry Jazz Café for CMW, C’est What, The Burdock Music Hall, The Revival Bar, Supermarket and Nookfest. In 2019, they won Battle of the Bands Toronto and were finalists in The Bout Battle of the Bands. Actively contributing to and being supported by their local community, Zoubi has a reputation for their charisma, kindness and professionalism. Currently living in Montreal, Zoubi has made use of isolation by studying Music Production full time. They will continue their studies in Nelson, BC where they will be moving in the summer of 2021.
