Influences:

My musical influences are so vast, so broad and ever growing that I couldn't begin to list them all. However, the artists that come immediately to mind as my creative fire and inspiration are - Paul Simon, Cat Stevens, Joni Mitchell, Leonard Cohen, Jim Croce, Harry Chapin, Carol King, Don McLean, Five for Fighting, Tracy Chapman, Passenger, Ben Howard, Ed Sheeran - and of course the many talented songwriter friends I am surrounded by daily.

FALLING

If you have a change of heart
And everything just falls apart
And all you got gets tangled up in you
When it’s too much for you to hold
Everything unfolds around you,
Anything you try is never true.

CHORUS
When you’re falling,
You can’t find your feet,
I promise I will keep, a place for you to land
When you’re falling, grabbing for the sky,
You need to know that I will
Catch you when you fall
I’ll catch you when you fall.

When believe, is all you’re following,
Those days where you step in,
And you are someone else
When your dreams are brighter than the climb,
Life’s full but you can’t find
The pieces of yourself

When you’re falling,
You can’t find your feet,
I promise I will keep, a place for you to land
When you’re falling, grabbing for the sky,
You need to know that I will
Catch you when you fall
I’ll catch you when you fall.

Falling, Falling

When you’re falling,
you can’t find your feet,
You need someone to keep, a place for you to land
When you’re falling, grabbing for the sky
Well, you can close your eyes
I’ll catch you when you fall,

When you’re falling,
You can’t find your feet,
I promise I will keep, a place for you to land
When you’re falling, grabbing for the sky,
You need to know that I will
Catch you when you fall
I’ll catch you when you fall.
Catch you when you fall
Catch you when you fall

I AM POETRY

You, see, silver in the moon,
You describe a perfect garden, when there’s not a single bloom,
You, hear, stars fall in the night,
Walk me through the darkness without a thread of light.

When I’m in your arms, I’m found,
I rise up from a world that pulls me down.
Your love lifts the life inside of me,
When I’m by your side ....
I Am Poetry.

You, feel, sunset on your skin
Reach into the corners where I spark and I begin
When, I, see me through your eyes
I don’t have to change or over analyze,

When I’m in your arms, I’m found,
I rise up from a world that pulls me down.
Your love lifts the life inside of me,
When I’m by your side ....
I Am Poetry.

I know that I will never, ever, wither on the vine,
You colour all the attributes, I didn’t know were mine.
And when I’m standing next to you,
My inspirations’ brighter too,
I am the breath, I am the soul, undeniably ….

When I’m in your arms, I’m found,
I rise up from a world that pulls me down.
Your love lifts the life inside of me,
When I’m by your side ....
I Am Poetry.

LOOK UP - RBT | NE Co-write

She was just a little girl
With her fingers tightly curled
Around her daddy's every time he went away
And when the tears came pouring in
He'd take his hand and lift her chin
He'd smile into her eyes and then he'd say

Look up, I’m gonna be back here real soon
Look up, we'll share that big ol’ moon
It don’t matter where we are
we'll always have those stars
Everything will be ok...if you
Look up

She was barely 17
With a suitcase full of dreams
They were quiet on the drive to catch the train
It was hard to say goodbye
She'd never seen her daddy cry
She fell into his arms and heard him say

Look up, you're gonna be back here real soon
Look up, we'll share that big ol’ moon
It don’t matter where we are
we'll always have those stars
Everything will be ok...if you
Look up, Look up

All the years, they went by fast
each one better than the last
every moment big and small
She really had it all,
then she got the call

Black umbrellas in the rain
with teardrops on her face
She lifts her daughters chin and says

Look up, it’s gonna be ok real soon
Look up, we'll share that big ol’ moon
It don’t matter where we are
we'll always have those stars
Everything will be ok...if you
Look up, Look up, Look up, Look up

PERFECT HEART

She’s waiting for the end – drinking tea
Walking the dog she steps – independently
No expectations days just – disappear
Loosened her grip on time and – the happy years

Here until whenever
Her world just falls apart,
She loved him forever,
But he broke her perfect heart, he broke her perfect heart,

Clearing the table, she is caught,
It seems so comfortable, but apparently it’s not
Sitting in silence with, they watch, their tv
She stares beyond the walls and, mediocrity

Here until whenever
Her world just falls apart,
She loved him forever,
But he broke her perfect heart, he broke her perfect heart,

Love her or love her not,
Hold her, or hold her not,
She’s a good and giving wife,
And she’s the best part of his life.

Love her or love her not,
Hold her, or hold her not,
She’s a good and giving wife,
And she’s the best part of his life.

Here until whenever
Her world just falls apart,
She loved him forever,
But he broke her perfect heart, he broke her perfect heart,

PROMISES

Promises,
All the late night little promises,
All the waiting for the words we wish
That don’t come true in those promises

Like photographs I won’t let go
It’s funny, how …. I can’t throw away,
the things I know we always had,
The simple truth, the black and white,
That pulls me in and there you lie
against my skin,

Promises,
All the late night little promises,
All the waiting for the words we wish
That don’t come true - in those promises

Like shattered glass against the floor,
We’re a thousand pieces waiting for,
Everything we were before, and need -
And the days they crash and end up broken,
When the thoughts at night are finally spoken -
I let you go, I’m sorry for …..

Promises,
All the late night little promises,
All the waiting for the words we wish
That don’t come true in those promises

And you told me to chase it
And you said I could fly if I wanted -
You said I shouldn’t waste it
And you know I only chase it,
I chase it ‘cause of you ….

Promises,
All the late night little promises,
All the waiting for the words we wish, and everything we miss,
I can’t live without ….

Promises,
All the late night little promises,
All the waiting for the words we wish
That don’t come true without – promises, promises, promises

Biography:

ROSANNE BAKER THORNLEY (RBT)

“A SEASONED, AMBITIOUS AND LITERATE SINGER SONGWRITER, WITH A BENT FOR BITTERSWEET SONGS" – Richard Flohil, Publicist

Rosanne is a word-crafter and born storyteller pouring all of herself into her songwriting. Her songs are the sympathetic telling of her own and other people’s stories. Her career includes extensive travelling and performing throughout North America and Europe; she was lead vocalist and principal songwriter for bands ‘Daystar’, ‘Niteskool’ and ‘Bakersmith’; released her album ‘COURAGE’ (SONY) with major support from the Foundation to Assist Canadian Talent on Record (FACTOR); was awarded FACTOR'S "New Talent Award" and was offered a songwriting position with Sony / ATV Publishing.

While Rosanne always has a few of her own songs in the works, she is curiously drawn to working with other artists / writers. In 2015, Rosanne and North Easton formed a songwriting partnership, RBT | NE with a focus on writing with and for established and emerging artists, as well as building a catalogue of RBT | NE songs for pitching opportunities. In November 2015, Rosanne launched a new songwriting initiative, "THE COLLABOR8TORS", a prominent group of Canadian songwriters focused on co-writing and the 'song at the centre'. The Collabor8tors are: Patrick Ballantyne, North Easton, David Leask, Blair Packham, Julian Taylor, Ambre McLean, Dayna Manning and Rosanne. She also recently became the Toronto curator, and a participating songwriter / performer for The Acoustic Guitar Project, a very cool, global songwriting initiative that takes place worldwide. In the 2016 collective are - Rosanne Baker Thornley, Keith McKie, Blair Packham, Julian Taylor and Suzie Vinnick.

Rosanne brings intense drive, energy and enthusiasm to her music, and to those she works with.
