Songs by Melissa Sandford

Can't Help Feelin'

I have been a lot of people in this life
And I keep on learning but never get it right
Still I
Pick myself up and I
Struggle on
But I can't help feelin' like my life's a country song.

I have done so many things you wouldn't wanna know
But I'm a much stronger person for it though
And I
Pick myself up
And I
Struggle on
But I can't help feelin' like my life's a country song.

And I've known strength and I've known sin.
I've tried to drown the demons within
And I've been born and born and born again
And again
And again

Oh I have been a lot of people in this life
And I keep on learning but never get it right
Still I
Pick myself up
And I
Struggle on
But I can't help feelin' like my life's a country song
No I can't help feelin' like my life's a country song.

Jackrabbit Parole

He spent about a year in a prison cell, counting down the days and after his time life didn't go so well, thanks to a stupid mistake.

He tried to get a job when he first got out and get his life on track but no one wants to give a guy a second chance, after he's got a prison wrap.

Now, he's been in and out of prison again and again 'cause once it gets a little cold outside it's nice and warm in the pen.

His last known address had bars on the doors and once you're inside you're not wanted no more. You can do your time on the outside or you can do your time in the hole but the truth is once you've done some time, life's just Jackrabbit parole.

Now, maybe they didn't teach him when he was in school or maybe he didn't listen 'cause he was too cool but even if he had it wouldn't have made no sense how a year in the bucket is a life sentence.

And looking at him now you can tell life's been hard, he's been trying to play it straight but he's been holding all the wrong cards.

And he's been in and out of prison again and again 'cause once it gets a little cold outside it's nice and warm in the pen.

His last known address had bars on the doors and once you're inside you're not wanted no more. You can do your time on the outside or you can do your time in the hole but the truth is once you've done some time, life's just Jackrabbit parole.

Biography:

Born, raised and residing in North Bay, Ontario Melissa Sandford is a Canadian singer-songwriter who draws inspiration from country, folk, rock, blues, jazz, pop and funk. Sandfords’ songs are relatable anecdotes of the human existence including her observations of love and emotion, human behaviour, and the odd tale of strength through adversity.

Raised in a kitchen musician family, befriended by hippies in high school and influenced by the many frequencies of the radio dial, Sandford is currently devoting all of her personal time to better crafting her work. With an end goal of writing at least one song that lasts through the ages, she aspires to be an award-winning songwriter and is seeking to license her works.

Of the writing process Sandford says that inspiration will come from a note or a chord progression, a thought or something someone said, or a good thunderstorm.
