Caught In A Rhapsody of Love

Caught in this Rhapsody of Love
words and music by Martin Clarke

Verse I
Maybe it’s the moonlight
Or maybe it’s the fragrance of a warm night
Casting its magic in the air.

Verse II
Sensuous - forbidden
It’s difficult to keep emotions hidden
Tangled in curls of golden hair.

Chorus a
But you know
there are times
When it’s not easy to express
This feeling of falling
This feeling of being so helpless

Chorus B
Like drifting on a midnight ocean
You don’t mind - you’ll gladly sip the potion
You’re caught in this rhapsody of love

Pre instrumental
Try as you might
You cannot fight
This rhapsody of love

instrumental based on verse

Verse III
Skies will be clearer
You may see a difference in your mirror
Two is the way you’ll see your life
.
But you know
there’ll be times
When it’s not easy to express
This feeling of falling
This feeling will leave you breathless

Chorus B
Like drifting on a midnight ocean
You don’t mind - you’ll gladly sipped the potion
You’re caught in this rhapsody of love

Try as hard as you might
You’re going to run out of fight
You’re caught in this rhapsody of love

For Me There's No God Anymore

For Me There’s No God Anymore

Music by RB Martin Clarke and Michael Kelly Cavan,
Lyrics by RB Martin Clarke 2015

3/4 time

Verse 1
Sergeant Ken Tennant was one of the best.
We were special detachment in Kandahar - West.
He prayed to the Lord to take care of each man,
But a Warthog mistook us for the Taliban.
I remember it now, oh remember too well,
The heat and the pain, as the friendly bombs fell.
Now his wife and his son hold his medals of war,
As for me there’s no God anymore.

Bridge
The generals said, forgive us,
It was all such a bad mistake.
But my friends were lost.
I saw their bodies tossed.
How many more, oh how many more will it...

Verse 2
Take me up close to the window, oh please,
‘cause the winter approaches, I can hear the snow geese.
Don’t you think it’s amazing how they fly in a vee.
It’s a sign to us vets. It’s a call to be free.
Well, you brought me these papers, I’ll sign them of course.
But in truth, this is worse than the worst.
I don’t blame you for leaving, but it and hurts to my core,
And for me there’s no God anymore

Instrumental 4/4 time to Onward Christian Soldiers

No, I don’t believe in God anymore.

She's The One Just Call Her Name

She's The One - Just Call Her Name
words and music by RB Martin Clarke 2015

There's been a long stream of them
Disappointed dreams of them
tumbling down
They all came tumbling down

They siphoned all your gas
And when the party didn't last
They left you stumbling 'round
You're still stumbling around

But there's one who's standing close to you.
She knows you better than you probably know yourself.

Chorus
She's the one
She's the only one who keeps you sane.
Oh my friend can't you see
She's the one
Who will never let you down again
Oh just call her name.

Maybe you don't notice
but to me you're clearly focused
but it's on the debutantes.
Those pretty debutantes.

The vision in your mind
of the ones you left behind
isn't what your heart wants.
It's not what it really wants.

Sometimes she's right in front of you.
Sometimes beauty is just too plain to see.

Chorus

instrumental

You know her name.
She's standing there.
Just call her now.
She'll be right here.

Sometimes she's right in front of you.
Sometimes beauty is just too plain to see.

Chorus
She's the one
She's the only one who keeps you sane.
My friend can't you see
She's the one
Who will never let you down again
Oh just call her name.

Why Did You Just Walk Away

When I was a child
oh You were my world
I trusted in you.

Oh you were my Mom
Can you tell me how come.
Was it something I did?
Was it something I said?

Chorus
Why did you go?
Why did you just walk away?
Why did you leave?
You left and you didn't say

I heard my Dad cry
Alone in the night
He trusted in you.

You left him a note
And the sentence you wrote
I did the best I could do.
For me, the kid and for you.

Chorus

I hear your voice
down the alley ways
I see your face when I go to school
And my Dad still says what a fool
he was to let you go
to let you go without one word.

instrumental

I guess I'll just live
I'll try to forgive.
And trust someone who.

Won't just walk away
And with nothing to say
Leaves a kid and his Dad
Oh was it really that bad.

chorus and end

Biography:

Born in London England I first lived 1 block from Abbey Road Studios. I doubt if, at the age of 1, that had any influence, but it is an interesting start to this biography. As a teenager during the sixtie, I developed a passion for the music of that era and picked up the guitar and started to compose. Composing has always been in the background of my life; one could say a hobby, but now I find it has moved to front page.
I compose using several software packages and, although can sing, I would not consider myself a performer.
I have composed for small video productions and several original pieces for 4 hands. I try not to limit myself to any particular genres. I think that a composer should be able to stretch and move between genres and for voice ranges beyond their own.
I have worked hard on lyrics and now give them much more emphasis in the composition.
