Fight Like a Girl

FIGHT LIKE A GIRL – © Leslie Woods Meyers Music

VERSE:
You’re thinking I’m so fragile
You’re thinking I might break
You’re thinking I don’t know my own mind
But darlin’ you can’t shake me

VERSE:
Don’t let these Gucci heels fool you
My bite is bigger than my bark
In life or love, push comes to shove
I’m just a regular Joan of Arc

CHORUS:
I’m gonna fight like a girl
And spread it all over the world
Gonna show you boy just what I’m made of
I, I’m gonna fight like a girl

VERSE:
You like my long slim fingers
And you like my pretty pink nails
I’ll be your smokin’ hot mama in a mini skirt
I believe in fairy tales

VERSE:
But I’ve got a secret weapon
Are you sure you wanna mess with me
You’d better watch where you’re steppin’ mister
Or you’ll find out just how tough I can be

CHORUS:
I’m gonna fight like a girl
And spread it all over the world
I’m gonna show you boy just what I’m made of
I, I’m gonna fight like a girl

VERSE:
You like to call me Baby
Yeah, you like to get the door for me
And I might cry over a movie
I’ll even be your honey bee

VERSE:
A few little words of wisdom
And you can take ‘em to the day you die
Just don’t try tellin’ me I can’t do something
Cause Baby you can watch me fly

CHORUS:

I’m gonna fight like a girl
And spread it all over the world
Gonna show you boy just what I’m made of
I, I’m gonna fight like a girl

You know I’m gonna fight like a girl

Oh yeah, yeah, yeah
And spread it all over the world
Na na na na na na na na na

Last Day of Forever

LAST DAY OF FOREVER
Words/Music by Leslie Woods Meyers

VERSE:
6:45 the radio comes to life while her conscience lays asleep
Eyes open wide to find a startling surprise she’s not where she’s supposed to be
She scrambles collecting her belongings from the floor, how could she be so careless now
She’s done so well this far to hide her sordid secret
Excuses running out

CHORUS:
Baby you’re living like a mouse on a treadmill
It’s way ahead of you
Baby this might be the last day of forever
What would you do

VERSE:
No lights on inside she stumbles through the doorway
Thank God everyone’s asleep
“Hey…where’ve you been” echoes from a corner
She’s in way too deep
The truth begins to seep

CHORUS:
Baby you’re living like a mouse on a treadmill
It’s way ahead of you
Baby this might be the last day of forever
What would you do

BRIDGE:
Did she mean to let it get this far out of hand
A downward spiral - her whole life like she knew before

CHORUS:
Baby you’re living like a mouse on a treadmill
It’s way ahead of you
Oh Baby this might be the last day of forever
What will you do

REPEAT CHORUS

Temptation (Give Me Some Time)

TEMPTATION
Words/Music Leslie Woods Meyers

VERSE
Just give me some time
Cause my head's reelin' to keep up with my heart
The temptation is mine
Your breath on my face is all that keeps us apart

So close to what might be
I don't think I can turn away now

CHORUS
When your heart begs to leave
And you try just for that moment
Soon you sell your soul for what will be
And settle with the torment

VERSE
A breath beside you at night
Can be thunderous while you lie awakened
Retreat in mind
Where I feel you, hear every word you're saying

You say "Just put both feet on the floor
Don't look back - just leave the doors wide open"

REPEAT CHORUS

Just give me some time
Cause my heart's calling me again

Biography:

Born in Campbellton, NB Canada, Leslie Woods Meyers is a singer, songwriter and performer who began entertaining anyone who would listen at the age of 2. When presented with her first guitar at 13, songwriting thus began. Fronting various bands as lead vocalist would lead her to sharing the stage with Canada's legendary Prime Minister of the Blues, the late Dutch Mason and upon Dutchie’s invitation, recording a demo with his band in Halifax. An offer from Dutchie's agency followed, but her heart called her to Toronto, where weekend jamming on the local blues scene would find her playing music in the company of Tom Stevens of the Jeff Healey Band, Jerome Godboo, Michael Pickett, Danny Marks to name a few. A return to New Brunswick followed, where she fronted various bands as lead vocalist performing from-the-tips-of-your-toes Rock, R&B, Blues in her hometown and where she returned to her love of song writing. Penned originals would win her regional title and overall Semi-Finalist in a maritime wide contest for songwriters/performers sponsored by Maritime Broadcasting Systems, garnering radio airplay and gold rotation. Then, as life would happen, it did - placing all music aspirations on hold. Now with a greater story to tell and a stronger song to sing, full on she follows what leads her...heart and soul!
