I Am The Storm

I AM THE STORM

Black horizon, thunder shook the sea, I was alone
A sudden swell, overboard I held my breath, sank like a stone

I could not find a compromise
Did not see how I could rise
From those depths
On the needle point of giving in
The jagged edge of mortal sin
Let me rest

The devil whispered in my ear
You’re not strong enough to ride this hurricane
And though my eyes rolled wild with fear
I met his gaze, through burning, tears
I am the storm

Injured, from a dozen ragged wounds my spirit rose
Deserted, all my armies fled my cause, I was laid low

His demons gathered at his side
No one could withstand that tide
Or so he thought
Free fall, into the deep
Enticing glimpse of endless sleep
I thought not

The devil whispered in my ear
You’re not strong enough to ride this hurricane
And though my eyes rolled wild with fear
I met his gaze, through burning, tears
I am the storm, I am the storm, I am the storm
I am the storm, I am the storm, I am the storm

The devil stalks me in disguise
Truth all tangled up in lies
Oh, I’m not brave
I draw on strength that’s not my own
Breathe between the ebb and flow
Of the waves

Still he whispers in my ear
You’re not strong enough to ride this hurricane
And though my eyes roll wild with fear
I meet his gaze, through burning, tears
And I shout it in his face
You may win my soul, but not today
I am the storm, I am the storm, I am the storm
I am the storm, I am the storm, I am the storm
I am the storm, I am the storm, I am the storm
I am the storm

It Takes A Child

IT TAKES A CHILD
© 2018-04-16Jude Johnson, (Judith Adina Johnson), SOCAN IP # 8448249

Nothin’, melts your heart like hungry faces
At the window of your tv screen, outside lookin’ in
And nothin’, brings out the best of human nature
Like watchin’ little feet stumbling, in a race so hard to win

It’s up to every one of us to help them make the climb
I’ve heard it said a million times

It takes a village, to raise a child
Teach them right from wrong, hold them safe when they run wild
But what keeps us keep on keepin’ on, and why it’s all worthwhile
Oh - oh, it takes a child

When days… get tired and nights get too long
I don’t know if I can make it, another mile
I picture… what life will be like, tomorrow
And that’s why I’ll carry on a little while, longer

history meets the future, embodied in each one
every single daughter, every son

It takes a village, to raise a child
Teach them right from wrong, hold them safe when they run wild
But what keeps us keep on keepin’ on, and why it’s all worthwhile
Oh - oh, it takes a child

What makes us move the mountains, what tames our savage beast
Keeps us fighting for the right of everyone to live in peace

It takes a child, to raise a village
Hold our hands, usher us into the new age
Bring us hope, give us courage
Oh – oh, oh - oh
It takes a child, to make it matter
So we don’t leave our world, broken and shattered
Sing the music, ring the laughter
Help us believe in happy ever after

Oh, oh, it takes a child
Oh, oh, it takes a child

Smoke And Mirrors

SMOKE AND MIRRORS
© 19-03-19 Jude Johnson, (Judith Adina Johnson), SOCAN IP # 8448249

I paint the new day on, cover up my sins
Spray it all with glitter, hide my brittle skin
Smile ‘til it hurts, laugh as though I’m free
Dancing through the afternoon, pretending I can breathe

Smoke and mirrors
Nothing’s as it seems
Behind the shuttered windows
In the darkness of our dreams
Smoke and mirrors
We’re all strangers in the light
We tell ourselves the little lies
That crumble in the night

Limping through my door, peel off the thin disguise
Let fall the shiny trappings, release my stifled cries
My pillow drenched in fear, I escape into my mind
That frayed and tangled web, let it all unwind

Smoke and mirrors
Nothing’s as it seems
Behind the shuttered windows
In the darkness of our dreams
Smoke and mirrors
We’re all strangers in the light
We tell ourselves the little lies
That crumble in the night

What do you find, reflected in my eyes
What secrets have you buried, hidden deep inside

Smoke and mirrors
Nothing’s as it seems
Behind the shuttered windows
In the darkness of our dreams
Smoke and mirrors
We’re all strangers in the light
We tell ourselves the little lies
That crumble in the night
Oh they crumble in the night
Oh they crumble…

Biography:

Hi, I’m currently from Smithers, a small town in northern BC. My background includes playing with a rock band, a folk music act, in a choir, and a dance/festival group who cover everything from classic rock, east coast, reggae, to country. I have been writing and recording my own material for a few years now and have done a lot of work with a coach in Nashville. I get my material to the rough demo stage and am looking to get my songs cut by other artists, and/or placed in ads, movies, gaming etc. Thanks for considering a little judemusic
