An inspired singer and storyteller, Eileen charms all ages with her soulful voice and heartfelt lyrics. Laverty's unique brand of folk music has led to television and film features, and landed her performances with a diverse range of artists, including Kenny Rogers, Tom Cochrane, and the Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra. CBC Radio 2 writes, “Laverty’s charismatic attitude combined with her soulful sound has her ranked among the elite of Canadian Folk singers.”

Laverty 's songs have been covered by numerous artists-- most notably, Canadian Tenor John McDermott, and Irish star Mary Black who had chart success with “Wildest Dreams.” Eileen’s recording, “Tread Softly” was featured on the Songs Inspired By Literature compilation alongside tracks by Steve Earle, David Bowie, Tom Waits, and Rosanne Cash.

Originally from Belfast, Northern Ireland, Eileen’s family immigrated to Canada when she was six and, although she calls herself a Prairie girl, her Irish roots run deep. Her music career began with Saskatoon-based traditional Celtic band, and it wasn’t long before she struck out on her own performing solo in folk clubs and taverns and trying out her own originals.

Her debut album Dancing with Angels, was recorded in a friend’s living-room with engineer Jared Kueper, and earned her a Prairie Music Award for Outstanding Roots Recording. Billboard Magazine called it “strikingly original” and another reviewer observed “Laverty’s songwriting shows a great deal of depth, and she has a fine sense of melody. It’s her pure, rich voice that is her calling card.”

Ground Beneath My Feet, Laverty’s sophomore album, further showcased her songwriting prowess and vocal talents. It expanded her track record of songwriting accolades, as well as radio and television appearances, and the CD continues to draw praise at home and abroad.

Eileen’s latest EP, From This Moment, is a collection of her favorite covers paying tribute to some of the songwriters who have inspired her and includes her often-requested version of John Lennon's “Imagine,” and “Don't Dream It's Over ” by Crowded House.

Most recently, Laverty began working with acclaimed Canadian composer Allan Gilliland to arrange her songs for symphony orchestra. Laverty was honoured to be featured in the Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra’s 2015-16 season. “This is one of the best shows you’ll see this season because it’s brilliant songs with a massive wall of music," said Mark Turner, Executive Director of the SSO. "[It's] her natural ability to speak honestly through her songs – you can’t help but love the experience."
