Songs by Darryl James

DREAMERS

coming up fast
and it won’t last
don’t know where I’m going
can I go back
to a place that
doesn’t even sound like home

it was way back
by the old tracks
where the river meets the road
on the same path
thought i might crash
snow blind but I just drove

wheels keep turning
but the streets all look the same
I'd slow down maybe
but I can’t reach the brakes

somewhere
I've been a dreaming
out there
I found a reason
someplace there’s a home
I've been dreaming
ya I’m a dreamer

every new face
got a new take
they all want a part to play
and they all say
it.s the right way
how do I get of of this maze

miles keep burnin
I keep changin lanes
will I get there
before I meet my fate

somewhere
I’ve been a dreaming
out there
I found a reason
someplace there’s a home
I've been dreaming
ya I’m a dreamer

I've been dreaming
ya I’m a dreamer

somewhere
I’ve been a dreaming
out there
I found a reason
someplace there’s a home
I've been dreaming
ya I’m a dreamer

MY LOVE HASN'T HIT YOU

LATELY WE’LL RIDE OUT
FIND AN OLD TO TOWN
WHERE WE CAN BE ON OUR OWN

WE’ll STUMBLE
UNDER AN OAK TREE
AS THE SUN GOES DOWN

AND I BET GOD THAT YOU FEEL IT TOO
I REALLY REALLY WANT THAT

WILL YOU TELL ME NOW
WILL YOU TELL ME NOW

AND THATS THE DAY YOU TOLD ME
AND THATS THE DAY YOU TOLD ME
AND THATS THE DAY YOU TOLD ME

MY LOVE HASN’T HIT
YOU

YOU WERE LYING
I’M NOT CRYING
DRESSED UP WITH HIGH HEELS ON

ON A DARK NIGHT
LED BY STREET LIGHTS
DARING ME TO WALK AWAY

TIME HELPED ME THROUGH WHEN I FELT DOWN
I REALLY REALLY WANT THAT

WILL YOU TELL ME NOW
WILL YOU TELL ME NOW

AND THATS THE DAY YOU TOLD ME
AND THATS THE DAY YOU TOLD ME
AND THATS THE DAY YOU TOLD ME

MY LOVE HASN’T HIT YOU

Biography:

Darryl James has been writing and touring with the Strumbellas for the past 9 years and has seen one of his co-written songs "Spirits" become an international hit going "Double Platinum" in Canada, "Gold" in the USA and "Gold" in Germany. "Spirits" also have over 120 million Spotify streams and over 47 million Youtube streams worldwide, so Darryl understand what it takes to write a hit single!

Over the past 2 years, Darryl has made songwriting one of my main priorities with the goal of writing songs with for other artists. In the last 6 months, Darryl is now co-writing with other artists weekly, taking advantage of SOCAN writing and grant opportunities, investing in vocal lessons, judging the inaugural SOCAN Foundation songwriting competition, producing songs for other bands, and networking with key people in the industry at every chance he can get.

He now has over 100 demos of his own music and about 12 recent co-writes with some of Canada's top songwriters including: Lisa LeBlanc, Matt Sweeney (The Elwins), Graydon James (The Young Novelists), Craig Schram (The Provincial Archive), Khal Yassein (Wild Rivers), Jordan Paul, Ethan Paxton (Delta Days), Eli Maiuri (Eli and The Strawman), Simon Ward (The Strumbellas) and Andrew Morrison (The Jerry Cans).

Simon Ward (Head songwriter in The Strumbellas) writes, “Darryl has worked harder than anyone I know learning his craft. He is an amazing bass player, as well as a creative force in the band. The Strumbellas would be nowhere without him.”
