Don't know your dominant chords from your tonic chords? Or your Major scales from your Minors? Are you sitting in songwriting workshops and not understanding some of the musical terms being used? Then this workshop is just the thing to give yourself a firm grounding in basic music theory. Singer/Songwriter Thomas Kovacs, former Humber College Jazz Vocals student, recent graduate of the Berklee Songwriting Specialist Certificate program and back from a two-week songwriting trip to Nashville, will guide you through Time signatures, the Major and Minor scales and their key signatures, the natural chords within major and minor scales (Major, Minor, Augmented, Diminished), the Tonic, Sub-dominant, and Dominant chords and Chord substitution. This workshop is geared towards those with little or no theory background. It’s also a great refresher course!
